HOS: Hours Of Service

NO MONEY, LOAD, OR DISPATCH SHOULD AFFECT YOUR HOS!

Canada

  • The driver must have 10 hours OFF-duty every day in Canada

  • The driver must have 8 consecutive hours OFF-duty every day to make a daily reset (may be combined with the SB status), for example, overnight.

  • The remaining 2 hours OFF-duty must not be a part of 10 hours overnight rest.

  • These 2 hours OFF-duty must be taken during the day, but at least one OFF-duty period has to be at least 30+ minutes long (may be combined with the SB status).

  • When you start your shift after 8 hours OFF-duty, it must last no more than 16 hours.

  • During these 16 hours, you can be ON-duty no more than 14 hours, the rest can be spent in the SB or OFF-duty, anytime combined.

  • During these 14 hours, you may drive no more than 13 hours (Canada South), but don`t forget to take 2 hours OFF-duty combined during the day, as mentioned above.

REMEMBER:

if you`re driving in Canada more than 8 hours straight, you will be in violation, just like in the USA.
Take at least 30+ minutes in the SB or OFF-duty.

Canadian rules you can find here. If you are not home, please use SB status (Sleeper Berth) when sleeping overnight in your truck. Otherwise, you may be questioned by the Compliance Officer at the weigh station.
